The TV-built event will allow World Series poker fans to relive the tournament’s most memorable head-up moments.

The tournament will be filmed by ESPN and re-stage three famous two-man main event finals that will air this summer as part of coverage of the World Series of Poker.

The first match will take place on June 2 at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino when Chris Moneymaker takes on Sammy Farha in the famous 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event Moment rematch.

Moneymaker, an unknown amateur who earned $10,000 in seats at the main event after qualifying for $39 through an online poker tournament, won $2.5 million by defeating veteran pro Farha and helped launch a global explosion in poker.

“Winning the Poker Main Event World Series was a life-changing moment,” Moneymaker said in a statement. “Although I agreed to win again against Sammy, I was confident that I could not take away my title if my bluster didn’t work well this time around.”

The second match will be played by Johnny Chan and Phil Helmut. Chan sought his third consecutive main event title in 1989 when he was defeated by then unknown 22-year-old Helmut in the World Series of Poker.

Since then, Hellmuth (11 gold individual champion gold bracelets) and Chan (10 gold bracelets) have combined to earn more than $10.4 million in World Series poker.

The World Series of Poker is asking fans to become fans of the Facebook event and vote for a third head-up match.

Fans can choose from the four games of 1988 World Series Poker’s Chan vs. Eric Sidell, 2004 Greg Raymer vs. David Williams, 2007 Jamie Gold vs. Paul Wasica, or last year’s Jonathan Duhamel vs. John Rayner.

Moneymaker and Farha will face off in the best-of-three series, with the other two teams facing each other only once.
