With this magic formula, often called The Sound of Philadelphia, The O’Jays scored their first number one and over a million-selling song “Backstabbers,” including “Love Train,” “Put Your Hands Together,” “For The Love of Money,” “I Love Music,” “Darlin’ Darlin’ Forbaby” and “Beaver” followed by many other singles and “Beach Girl.”
The success prompted the O’Jays to become the first black vocal group to perform in stadiums across the United States in the 70s and 80s. Eddie Rebert Sr., Walter Williams Sr., and Eric Nolan Grant, who joined the group in 1995, continue to excite fans today.
O’Jays achieved 10 gold albums, 9 platinum albums, and 10 number-one hits during their career. It’s been a long journey, but thanks to fans, LOVE TRAINE is still strong.
