PEN Entertainment, Inc. announced that it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new hotel on Nov. 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Hollywood Casino-Columbus.
“We are excited to start building a state-of-the-art new hotel in the Hollywood casino Columbus soon,” said Jay Snowden, CEO and president of PENN Entertainment. “Since opening in 2012, our Columbus property has experienced tremendous growth, and the addition of a hotel to the Hollywood casino Columbus will be a true regional destination.”
Estimated at an estimated budget of about $100 million, the hotel will be attached to the existing building and will add hundreds of construction jobs and about 100 new permanent jobs upon opening. The new hotel is part of a previously announced plan consisting of four new growth projects, including a new land-based casino in Aurora, Illinois, and an additional hotel tower in Henderson, Nevada. The city of Aurora will provide $50 million in funding for projects there, and Gaming and Leisure Properties Inc. has pledged $575 million for a total budget of $850 million for four growth projects.
