And now, the U.S. Department of the Interior says in a three-page report that placing a casino away from US-131 in Wayland Township will not have much environmental impact on the area. In order for the casino to fully operate as a slot machine and card table, Governor Granholm must sign a contract to grant permission to the tribes. Otherwise, it will be called a Grade II Casino, which will feature low-risk games such as bingo. The governor has not announced when he will make his decision. If all goes well, the tribe said that the casino will be able to operate normally by January of next year.
