The storybook of casino that will help the poorest suburbs

A coalition of Southern suburban leaders proposed a Robin Hood-style casino complex in Country Club Hills that only shares revenue with 18 low-income Illinois communities and their schools.

The United Southland Alliance announced plans to build a large casino, hotel, shopping and entertainment complex on more than 250 acres of land leading to Cicero Avenue, 167th Street, Pulaski Road and Interstate 57 and 80.

The casino aims to recoup some of the $1.25 billion in gambling money that Illinois residents lose each year to the Indiana casino, Welch said. The casino’s innovative revenue-sharing plan will bring much-needed dollars to economically depressed communities and schools.

Local governments with average annual incomes of more than $50,000 were not invited to join the coalition, Welch said. 카지노사이트 순위

“We have talked to communities in need,” he said. “It is one of the poorest areas in the United States. They hate to admit it, but Robbins and Ford Heights are the two poorest cities in the country.”

He said Country Club Hills will receive 15 percent of its revenue and schools will receive 25 percent. The remaining 60 percent will be shared by 17 other municipalities.
