More than 1,900 youth aged 15 to 18 from more than 80 countries around the world are expected to participate.

“All competitions and the closing ceremony are free to attend,” the organizers said, “but only the opening ceremony in Gangneung will be charged. Tickets will be available at ticket.gangwon2024.org from 11:11 a.m. on February 11.”The organizers also introduced Virtual Gangwon, a metaverse platform .Virtual Gangwon is being jointly developed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Organizing Committee, and allows users to experience Olympic venues and tourist destinations through a virtual world. “Nine buildings, including competition venues and the Athletes’ Village, have been implemented in the virtual space, and mini game record competitions and challenges have been added for added interest,” the organizing committee said. ‘Virtual Gangwon’ is scheduled to open for beta on the 17th, and will officially open in early January next year.
