Developers at the long-stalled North Streep resort announced on Tuesday that the former Fontainebleau is once again Fontainebleau and is expected to open in late 2023.

Fontainebleau Development, a company of Florida developer Jeffrey Sopper, said the 67-story resort, now called Fontainebleau Las Vegas, will open in the fourth quarter of 2023. The resort is 75% complete, and when completed, Fontainebleau Development will be the resort’s sole operator, the company said.

The announcement comes after the recent departure of development partner Marriott International, which confirmed in October that the hotel chain had reached a “friendly agreement” with the property’s owner. Marriott has been part of the project since early 2018, and the company’s website has called the resort JW Marriott Las Vegas Blvd.

Soffer’s company announced plans for the resort in May 2005 and began construction of the project in 2007. However, the collapse of the real estate market soon caused the economy to crash, and the unfinished resort went bankrupt in 2009. 경마

Billionaire Carl Icahn bought the property for about $150 million (W150 million) in 2010. Seven years later, Icahn sold the property to Steve Witkoff and New Valley, a subsidiary of the real estate company and tobacco manufacturer The Vector Group, for $600 million.

Witkopf and Marriott unveiled a new name for the resort called Drew Las Vegas in early 2018, with plans to open the resort at the end of 2020. However, construction of the resort was once again halted in 2020 due to the economic fallout from COVID-19.

And in February, Sopper’s company joined hands with Kansas conglomerate Koch Industries to acquire a project it unveiled about 15 years ago.

“We are grateful to have the opportunity to finish what we started and finally introduce the iconic Fontainebleau brand to one of the largest tourist attractions in the world,” Soper said in a statement. “The building is in mint condition, and we have already begun construction. We are happy to make this dream a reality.”

Fontaineau Development entrusted Las Vegas builder Richardson Construction to complete construction on the 25-acre resort project on the northern end of the strip next to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“The Las Vegas tourism industry has demonstrated incredible resilience over the past two years, and we believe our target opening date can perfect our vision while positioning Fontainebleau Las Vegas for success in an era of new growth and visits,” Brett Murfson, President of Fontainebleau Development, said in a statement.
