Venice Construction Officer for Pocono Manor Resort & Casino Construction

Bovis Lend Lease LMB, Inc. adds an unparalleled experience in resort construction management to Matzel’s team of industry leaders. The Venetian Resort, Hotel & Casino, and the Time Warner Center construction management company in New York, have joined an all-star team of partners and consultants working to bring global resorts and casinos to Poconos. Greg Matzel, president of Matzel Development, announced today that Bovis Lend Lease LMB, Inc. has been retained to take charge of pre-construction services and construction management at the $1.2 billion Pocono Manor Resort & Casino proposed for Tobyhanna Township, Pennsylvania.

Bovis Lend Lease is the second-largest construction manager in the United States. Previous projects include the Four Seasons Hotel and Tower in Miami, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Residence in downtown New York, the Wyndham Palace Hotel in Lake Buena Vista in Florida, and the Foxwood Casino in Connecticut, in addition to the Venetian Resort, Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.

Before working with the Mattel team, Gomes was the president of Atlantic City’s Tropicana Casino and Trump Taj Mahal Hotel & Casino and the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Based on recent economic research and current forecasts, Pocono Manor Resort & Casino will create up to 5,300 construction jobs with an annual construction salary of $189 million, increasing income tax revenues for municipalities and school districts in the region. Matzel Development has filed an application for a license for a Pennsylvania Category 2 slot from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Pocono Manor Resort & Casino may operate with temporary facilities within nine months of receiving the license. Matchell’s new resort and casino plans initially include a full-service spa, two 18-hole championship golf courses, a 12-acre lake, indoor and outdoor swimming pool and cave, 100,000 square feet of retail villages, tennis centers, equestrian facilities, shooting ranges, miles of forested trails, and 100,000 square feet of casinos, as well as a full-service spa, two 18-hole championship golf courses, a 12-acre lake, an indoor and outdoor pool and cave, 100,000 square feet of conference and convention space, 1,800-seat theaters, 100,000 square feet of village green space, 300,000 square feet of retail villages, tennis centers, horseback riding facilities, shooting ranges, miles of forested trails, multiple dining options, and a gondola transportation system between resorts.

The Pocono Manor Inn & Golf Resort lives on about 3,000 acres (5.5 square miles) in Tobihanna and Pocono Township, as well as in the Pocono Mountains borough. The resort, in its own zip code, consists of a nine-story, 257-room inn and conference center, two 18-hole golf facilities, equestrian facilities, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, shooting ranges and hiking, cross-country skiing, equestrian and snowmobiling.
