
Ukraine survived a cliffhanger.
Ukraine defeated Slovakia 2-1 in the second leg of their UEFA Euro 2024 Group E match at the Düsseldorf Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany, at 10 p.m. ET on June 21. With the win, Ukraine and Slovakia are even at 1-1 in the group.
Slovakia pulled out a 4-3-3 formation. Ivan Schranz, Robert Bozenik, and Lukas Haraslin lined up up front, while Juraj Kuczka, Stanislav Lobotka, and Ondrej Duda formed the back four. The back four was Peter Pekaric, Denis Babro, Milan Škriniar, and David Hanko. Martin Dubravka wore the goalkeeper’s gloves.
Ukraine lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Artem Doubik started up front, supported by Mikhailo Mudryk, Georgy Sudakov, and Andriy Yarmolenko in the second line. Ukraine continued to push forward and equalized. There were five minutes of stoppage time. Slovakia pushed forward in the closing minutes but failed to find the equalizer. The game ended with a 2-1 victory for Ukraine.
