“The First Snow,” a winter song by K-pop boy band EXO, has claimed the top spots of major music streaming charts in Korea about 10 years after its release in 2013.The tune has ranked first on the daily and TOP 100 chart of Melon as of Tuesday while hitting No. 1 on other platforms like Bugs and Flo. Although the song often resurfaced on streaming charts each winter due to its seasonal theme, this marks the first time it has topped Melon’s daily chart.”The First Snow” is believed to have achieved the feat thanks to the popularity of the version that went viral on the Chinese video-sharing platform, TikTok. After a TikTok user kicked off a dance challenge for this version last month, numerous people including the members of girl group IVE and boy band NCT DREAM joined in and promoted the song. Even some EXO members like Sehun, Suho and Baekhyun took part in the challenge, further fueling the song’s buzz online.

“We celebrated our chart success together,” EXO’s frontman Suho said through his management company, SM Entertainment, Thursday. “At first, we were surprised to see our song’s performance on the streaming charts, but now we are all enjoying it. We want to appreciate our fans and we hope they can have a warm year-end season with our track. EXO will return with decent music and performances next year.”Composed by Kenzie and Kim Jung-bae, “The First Snow” is an acoustic pop song with a Christmas feel, which was featured in EXO’s 2013 album, “Miracles in December.” Its lyrics are about a man hoping to go back to the past when he was together with his first love.EXO debuted in 2012 with “MAMA” and shot to fame with the hit, “Growl” in 2013. It released its seventh full-length album, “EXIST” in July, which became the group’s seventh million-seller 온라인카지노 album and conquered iTunes top album chart in 70 regions.
