Captain Lingard adds ‘responsibility,’ now all that’s missing is offense

Now there’s added responsibility. Lingard, who wore the captain’s armband in place of Ki Sung-yueng, came on in full-time to help secure the victory, and now all that’s left is the offense.

FC Seoul defeated Suwon FC 3-0 in the 18th round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8 p.m. on Feb. 22. The win snapped Seoul’s five-game home losing streak in the league and moved them up to seventh place with 21 points. Suwon remained in fifth place with 27 points.

Seoul, who had lost five straight home games in the league, deployed an attacking 4-4-1-1 formation, centered around “Captain” Lingard and Ilyuchenko. Lingard moved freely through the midfield, 현금홀덤사이트 connecting passes and creating chances with his selfless play.

Lingard also took on more responsibility. With Ki Sung-yueng out with an Achilles injury, Lingard has been wearing the captain’s armband since the last match against Ulsan. Coach Kim Ki-dong said, “He took the captaincy last game and showed responsibility by leading the team. I didn’t say anything special to him, but he knew he was already the captain. Today, he took the captaincy for granted,” he said, showing his faith.

Lingard didn’t have an offensive point, but he gave everything he had. Lingard was active in the No. 10 attacking midfield position, linking up play and controlling the tempo of the game. He also contributed to both the defense and the offense with his defensive involvement and forward pressure.

He also made sensible plays in the process of the wedge goal. In the 41st minute of the second half, Ryu Jae-moon’s forward pass was sensitively flicked on by Lingard, which was caught by Kang Sung-jin and calmly finished in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. Ryu Jae-moon’s pass and Kang Sung-jin’s finish were good, but Lingard’s sensible play shone through.

All that was left was the offensive point. He has definitely improved his form after his knee surgery, and now he just needs to score offensive points to get closer to 100%.
