Arrives in Las Vegas on ‘In-Running’ Football Betting

Ludamico has been in the sportsbook business in Las Vegas for the last 35 years, so it’s safe to say he’s seen it all. However, veteran status Damico had extra success in his move this week, thanks to a new “in-running” sports betting package available for the 2009 NFL season.

“It’s going to be very exciting for an old guy like me, too,” laughed the head of Race and Sportsbook at M Resort as he prepared for Thursday night’s NFL season opener, Tennessee and Pittsburgh, which will be the first NFL game to offer a new “running” bet. “This is the kind of thing that’s going to really give up a shot in football season. We’re going into uncharted waters with this, but I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The “In-Running” bet allows players to bet on live sports events in real game flows. So once the game starts, you can bet on things like who will win the game (with a money line adjusted as the score changes) and over/under, as well as whether the current drive will get a first down or bring a punt, field goal, touchdown or turnover. You can bet on whether the set field goal is good or the next play will get 20 yards or more.

“It’s an amazing experience,” says D’Amico, a Brooklyn native who has served twice as sportsbook director at Caesars Palace and also worked on starting books at Plaza Hotel & Casino. “And the technology that Canter Gaming has to offer is tremendous. It’s really a credit to this Amais president and CEO. 메이저 토토사이트

“It’s a really unique concept. And now that we’re going to have it not only here at M, but also at two of the top strip buildings like Venice and Palacho, we’re hoping it will attract a lot of new customers to our sports books.”

M Resort, which opened in March and is located in Henderson, about 10 miles south of Mandalay Bay, began offering “in-running” bets during the NCAA basketball tournament last spring. It then used them not only for the baseball season, but also for the NBA playoffs and Triple Crown horse racing. But for the first time, it’s offered to football, the most popular sport to bet in Las Vegas. Besides NFL games, “in-running” is also available for NCAA football matches selected this season.

Here’s how it works. Resort M’s sportsbook has both a cellphone and a mobile game station. On a typical Sunday, Damiko and his staff will choose two games from the initial card and two from the latter as “ongoing” games. In addition, Sunday and Thursday night games will always offer that. Players deposit a certain amount of money to place a bet on their mobile devices, and then other bets are posted as the game progresses. All bets are made on mobile devices, so there is no need to rush to the window to place a bet. The minimum bet is $10 and the maximum is $1,000.

At least two sportsbook employees will watch the game and post their lines during the action, with Damiko standing nearby to make a difficult decision.

“We have all the data and information we need in front of us, so we can draw a fair line on every bet,” explains Damiko. “To be honest, it’s not as hard as it looks. We’re pretty well-equipped with the whole format. We know what we’re doing.”

All lines posted by D’Amico and his staff on M will be shipped to The Venetian and Palazzo in real time.

“The addition of ‘Running’ will certainly enhance our sports book offerings and be a huge success for many sports lovers who spend time in our properties,” said Robert Goldstein, president of Palazzo and The Venician, owned by Las Vegas Sands. “We are constantly looking for opportunities to add new and exciting amenities to our overall guest experience, and this is a ‘Only in Las Vegas’ concept that helps distinguish The Venician and Palazzo from other properties on the strip and also shows the true uniqueness of Las Vegas and why there are no such cities in the United States.”

“Venezia and Palacho” will be the only sports book to offer “in-running” on the strip this football season, but Damico said the popularity of the new concept will help spread to other books in the near future.

“The Las Vegas and sportsbook industries in particular have always had a ‘walk before running’ attitude,” he says. “This is something new and different and I think a lot of properties are taking a wait-and-see approach. But once they see how successful it is for us, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of them start offering it next season or even later this season.”
