Coach Brown expresses his displeasure with the All-Star selection.
The NBA announced the reserve players for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game on its official website and social media accounts on Sunday.
Anthony Davis (Los Angeles Lakers), Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns), Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers), Paul George (Clippers), Steph Curry (Golden State Warriors), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), and Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota) were selected from the 안전 토토사이트 Western Conference.
Unlike the Top 5, which is voted on by fans (50 percent), players (25 percent) and media (25 percent), the list of nominees is strictly a vote of NBA head coaches.
The Sacramento Kings’ one-two punch of Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Parks did not make the All-Star team. Both players have been outstanding for Sacramento this season.
Parks is averaging 27.2 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.1 rebounds this season. That’s a career-high, and a higher average than he averaged last season when he broke out. His 27.2 points per game average ranks ninth in the NBA. Parks is the ace of Sacramento’s offense and a clutch-time solution.
Savonis has also been outstanding. Savonis is averaging 19.9 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists this season, approaching the 20-point, 10-rebound average that defines an elite big man. The eight assists are the most by a big man outside of Nikola Jokic. Savonis is making an impact all over the court.
Their play helped Sacramento finish fifth in the Western Conference. However, neither player was named to the All-Star team.
Head coach Mike Brown was not pleased. “Anyone who watched Sacramento play this season would have thought that Parks and Sabonis would have made the All-Star team. They are performing at an elite level. Savonis is averaging a double-double and Parks is shooting the best three-pointers of his career. Every year, there are players who fall short of making the All-Star team, but this season is shocking.”
As Brown notes, it will be a shame to see Savonis and Parks in the All-Star Game. While team performance is an important factor in All-Star Game nominations, Sacramento is in fifth place in the Western Conference. That’s not good enough for Brown.
The 2023 NBA All-Star Game will take place on February 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers.
